ICF is seeking a Wetland Specialist & Field Lead with strong wetland and biological expertise to join our rapidly-growing Texas-based practice. The successful candidate would leverage their technical expertise and regulatory understanding to deliver wetland delineations, biological surveys, and other environmental services for renewable energy developers, water authorities, and transportation clients. The candidate would be given immediate opportunities to build client relationships while working with and learning from expert wetlands specialists, other expert biologists, and project managers. The team’s local HQ is in Austin, TX, with smaller offices in Houston and San Antonio; due to the location of field work, local candidates are preferred.

What you will be doing:

Lead and perform wetland delineations, functional assessments, and plant and wildlife habitat assessments/surveys for diverse clientsAssessing impacts, preparing technical reports and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 404/10 permit applications and mitigation plansProviding expertise and technical input to project managers on complex projects involving Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, federal and state laws, and agency consultations; writing and/or supporting the accompanying reportsSupporting project managers with client management, project documentation, data management and analysis, scheduling, scoping, and budgetingHelping to mentor, train, and guide junior-level staffMust have a reliable vehicle for travel. Requirements are up to 50% of the time for related field work (reimbursement for mileage provided)Travel will be to a variety of sites across Texas and surrounding states, including occasional weekend work when required by project location, clients, or weather

What you need to have (minimum requirements):

BS in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a similar field3+ years experience conducting wetland delineations and biological surveys in a consulting context1+ year(s) experience mobilizing and leading field efforts Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) checkMust be able to work in the field for extended periods of time, often times with limited mobile phone reception Must be able to traverse uneven, irregular, slippery, and steep terrain with or without accommodation 


What we would like you to have (preferred requirements):

Strong knowledge of environmental consulting practices and environmental regulationsExperience conducting studies for renewable energy, water, and/or infrastructure clientsTechnical writing and permit preparation experienceCertification as a Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) and/or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) a plus

Professional skills you will use:

Proficiency with GPS mapping services (e.g., Field Maps), Google Earth, and/or other geographic information system resourcesExcellent communication and writing skillsHighly collaborative, flexible, curious, and self-motivatedAbility to work independently and as part of a team

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$54,063.00 - $91,907.00
