The CBS Weekend News is seeking an excellent newswriter. In this full-time role, you will be a key part of the content creation and editorial newsgathering operation for the CBS Weekend News and the CBS Evening News.

  Responsibilities:

Writing sharp, active, and compelling copy, often under extreme deadline pressure, (including anchor intros/tags, VOs and teases) from sources that include wire copy, video, and correspondent notes.

Demonstrating sound news judgment. Writing in accordance with CBS News style and standards.   Qualifications:

Excellent writing skills

At least 5 years experience at a network, local station or media organization or similar experience in a newsroom and on-air broadcasts You thrive and excel working in a fast-paced, breaking news environment Strong knowledge of current events, paired with a keen interest in politics and public affairs Willing to work an adaptable schedule, including regular weekend hours, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Experience in ENPS or iNews Member of the Writers Guild of America or willing to join upon acception

 

The rate noted is based on the WGA agreement.

Hiring Salary Range: $101,764.00 - 101,764.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
