The North America Workplace Healthy and Safety (WHS) Governance Risk Manager will be responsible for responding timely and accurately to safety and health regulatory interactions. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the group’s operational excellence by assisting with the execution of our compliance life cycle and ensuring that high quality compliance inputs are provided in the process. To be successful, one must be comfortable working on tasks requiring strong judgment, be able to critically evaluate the regulatory environment to determine the best path forward, and have the ability to effectively communicate recommendations and assessments to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, and must be able to identify and document improvement opportunities within the processes you work on. One must have prior work experience in a professional setting, a cooperative attitude, and organizational skills. The position requires that you be self-motivated to learn the operations and data analytics, and will involve both independent and team work in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing.
Key job responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between WHS Governance and all business units, such as NACF WHS, AMZL WHS and ATS WHS for continual alignment.
Ensure quality and timely written and verbal responses to regulatory agencies.
Support building WHS competencies and awareness across different business units regarding regulatory requirements.
Use of data and case management tools to identify trends related to regulatory interactions.
Monitor performance of business units against applicable regulatory compliance and internal Amazon standards.

Basic Qualifications
B.S or B.A. Degree
3+ years’ work experience as a paralegal or legal assistant or work in regulatory compliance with a focus on execution and operational excellence.
Analytical, writing, and verbal skills
Experience managing a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in an ambiguous environment.
Written and verbal communication skills, including influencing and partner with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
Experience collaborating with high-performance teams, including communication, motivation, and skills.
Project management skills.
Comfortable working on tasks requiring strong judgment.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, and data retrieval/mining skills using data warehouse systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work across the most senior levels of leadership and all levels of an organization with multiple businesses, including operations, legal, and public policy, to provide leadership and strategic planning on compliance and recordkeeping.
Proven ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders and stakeholders through logical reasoning, relevant data, and the presentation of alternative solutions.
Excellent presentation skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1904, 29 CFR 1910, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, etc.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
Familiarity with Salesforce a plus.
Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy. Experience researching, analyzing and synthesizing federal and state regulations.
Training or experience analyzing data to identify trends.
Prior experience with project management.
Strong written communication capabilities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $53,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $115,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
