Description
Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking a part time (16-24 hours) Women Infant Children (WIC) Registered Dietitian to work out of the Idaho Falls office. Travel to other offices may be required to assist.
This position requires the candidate to be a licensed Dietitian in the State of Idaho. Please include your license information on your resume.
We are open to interviewing recently graduated Registered Dietitian students who have a scheduled testing date on or before March 1, 2025. Must provide testing date on cover letter.
CLASS PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to conduct nutritional care and education programs for WIC clients and perform related duties to support program objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association.
+ Eligibility for licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code, Section 54-3506.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Knowledge of education principles and methods as applied to nutrition counseling and education.
+ Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and food handling practices.
+ Some experience in program planning and evaluation.
+ Ability to identify dietary problems related to nutrition intake, analyze and evaluate nutrition data, and adapt counseling to meet the social, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds of participants.
DUTIES
+ Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition-education programs that meet federal, state, and district standards for compliance.
+ Perform nutrition assessments, including anthropometric and hematological components.
+ Provide nutrition counseling and education on breastfeeding and other health-related issues using motivational interviewing techniques.
+ Develop individual care plans for participants.
+ Issue and explain food benefits to clients.
+ Prepare and update educational materials for both WIC staff and participants.
+ Function as a WIC certifier as needed.
+ Promote breastfeeding as the preferred method of infant feeding and offer breastfeeding support, including referrals to the Peer Counseling program.
+ Participate in outreach activities as assigned.
+ Complete assigned monthly reports.
+ Provide training to WIC staff.
+ Travel to other clinics as needed.
+ Attend required meetings.
+ Supervise dietetic interns.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS
Public health employees must be willing to participate in public health preparedness activities and training. During emergency situations, employees may be asked to work hours outside their normal schedule to assist with emergency response efforts.
