POSITION PROFILE

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wide Format Production Operator Specialist to join our team. As a Wide Format Production Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining wide format printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality prints and graphics for various applications. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our wide format production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and meet the highest quality standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate and maintain wide format printing and finishing equipment, such as large format printers, laminators, cutters, and routers. Review job orders and specifications to determine appropriate settings, materials, and production processes. Prepare files for printing, including file formatting, color correction, and imposition. Load and align materials, such as vinyl, fabric, or rigid substrates, onto the printing equipment. Monitor print jobs to ensure accurate color reproduction, image quality, and consistency throughout the production run. Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting minor issues. Conduct quality control checks to ensure that printed materials meet customer requirements and specifications. Collaborate with the design team to address any file-related issues or modifications needed for optimal print output. Assist in material inventory management, including tracking stock levels, reordering supplies, and organizing storage areas. Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following all company policies and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal. Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in wide format printing and finishing.

Desired skills or basic knowledge:

Experience as a Wide Format Production Operator or similar role, preferably in a print production environment. Familiarity in operating wide format printing equipment, including large format printers, laminators, cutters, and routers. Technical skills in file preparation, color management, and print production processes. Knowledge of different wide format materials, substrates, and finishing techniques. Familiarity with RIP software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, ONYX, or Caldera, and experience with file formats, including PDF, TIFF, and EPS. Ability to read and interpret job orders, specifications, and design files accurately. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Good communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with colleagues, designers, and clients effectively. Knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to print production.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)

Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Students should be pursuing a degree in a related major in the department of interest.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher  Students are to successfully complete all required screenings prior to hire
