About being our Wildlife Biologist - On Call\n

This position would primarily support work generated by our Environmental Group based out of the Orange County, Pasadena and Riverside offices, but may also support other Psomas offices as needed. As an On-call Biologist, this position would be overseen by a Project Manager or Biological Resources Manager within our Resource Management Team. This position would primarily be an as-needed field position conducting pre-activity surveys, construction monitoring, nesting bird surveys, and\/or focused surveys (depending on qualifications), with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position.\n

This position may also work with a team of biologists to accomplish focused surveys or other field tasks. The Biologist would be also expected to prepare monitoring forms and possibly short letter reports (with guidance). A Biologist permitted\/qualified to survey for California gnatcatcher, least Bell's vireo, and\/or to handle special status amphibians and reptiles would be a definite plus.\n

Responsibility Highlights for our Wildlife Biologist - On Call\n\nConduct biological surveys, such as nesting bird surveys\nConduct pre-construction surveys and biological monitoring\nConduct worker environmental awareness program training as needed for construction staff\nFamiliarity in the identification of biological resources of Southern California\nPrepare reports\/forms with accuracy, clarity, and completeness\nInteract with construction personnel (with support from Project Manager as needed)\n\n

Minimum Qualifications to be our Wildlife Biologist - On Call\n\nA Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife Biology, or related environmental discipline\nMinimum of 1 year experience as a Wildlife Biologist, or comparable wildlife watching experience\nFamiliarity with common plant species in Southern California\nFamiliarity with common wildlife species in Southern California\nPrior experience conducting biological fieldwork or hiking experience\nAbility to drive in offroad conditions, including potentially remote, rugged, and undeveloped terrain\nAbility to conduct field work for long days and overnight stays, as needed\nPhysically fit to navigate potentially rugged conditions on foot while carrying supplies\n\n
