The position will be domiciled Terrebonne Parish. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. Possession of a current driver's license. An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To provide the enforcement patrol component in support of major programs for fish, game, wildlife, ecosystem and boating safety regulations for the protection and sustainability of wildlife/fisheries resources and public safety; and, to serve as a parish coordinator for enforcement operational/patrol within an assigned district or statewide specialized enforcement unit. LEVEL OF WORK: Advanced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General from a Wildlife Enforcement Lieutenant or higher-level wildlife enforcement personnel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May exercise project or functional supervision over wildlife enforcement agents of lower rank. LOCATION OF WORK: Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Law Enforcement Division. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Wildlife Enforcement Corporal by the presence of serving as a parish enforcement coordinator. Investigates/conducts law enforcement activities designed to impact natural resource conservation, protection and management objectives, and to provide public safety services. Coordinates and works investigations in an undercover or covert capacity and is required to infiltrate illegal activities involving fish and wildlife. Reviews and investigates of all hunting accidents and boating crashes in assigned parish or unit to determine cause and to assist in determining possible criminal charges. Investigate/conducts law enforcement activities designed to impact natural resource conservation, protection and management objectives, and to provide public safety services. Coordinates enforcement activities within an assigned parish or work unit with lower level wildlife enforcement agents. Oversees enforcement activities on Wildlife Management Areas located in assigned parish. Monitors/submits reports related to equipment upkeep and condition. Serves as a temporary district supervisor in absence of the Wildlife Enforcement Lieutenant.
