Position Summary

 

This position will support the US Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information (DOE OSTI) vision to ensure long-term preservation of and access to DOE scientific and technical information through support of windows system administration. 

Responsibilities

Position-Specific Duties

Install, configure, maintain, and monitor Windows based computer systemsVulnerability remediation and software patchingSystem baseline hardening using DISA STIGsManage accounts and group memberships in both on-prem and cloud environmentsDeployment of COTS and custom applicationsAutomation of routine and repeatable tasksDocument systems’ policies and proceduresCoordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information with clients, other IT personnel, and other team members

 

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience

Prefer candidates to have or be working toward a degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university or with equivalent backgroundMinimum of 3 years’ system administration experience with Windows

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Experience with Windows operating systemsKnowledge of Microsoft Active Directory/Entra (Directory Services, Federation Services, Group Policy, Domain Trusts, Certificate Services, Right Management Services)Experience administrating Microsoft M365 environmentFamiliarity with Smartcards/PKIFamiliarity using VMware vSphere and vCenterFamiliarity with VMware Horizon or similar remote desktop softwareStrong troubleshooting and solution research skillsExperience with scripting languages such as PowerShellExperience with task automation Experience with centralized patch management solutionWorking knowledge common Internet protocolsFamiliarity with configuration management practices for operating systems and major applicationsFamiliarity with system documentation standards and proceduresDemonstrated excellent customer serviceDemonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written formatStrong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and a focus on deliverySelf-directed, results-oriented, and flexibleAbility to build strong working relationships across all levels of an organizationAbility to work as part of a diverse teamAbility to translate technical information to an audience-appropriate level

 

Physical Abilities

Ability to sit for long periods.Ability to view computer monitor for long periods.

 

Ability to provide proof of US Citizenship on your first day of employment to obtain a DOE HSPD-12 Badge in accordance with the terms of the contract. Department of Energy OSTI's policy direction requires all employees employed on this contract to be citizens of the United States.
