Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation: Starting pay rate of $ 18.30, actual wage adjusted based on experience.
Benefits: Full-time, seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
Killington/Pico Patrol Team is looking for First Aid Room Attendants that are highly skilled, compassionate and reliable. In this role, you will assess and triage incoming injured and ill persons, complete necessary forms and refer patients as appropriate while providing excellent customer service at all times.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Interview and examine injured or ill persons to determine the location and nature of injures or illness. Refer to a physician according to the seriousness of injury or illness
Provide patients with standard medical information about the nature of their injuries, typical treatments given, and need to see physicians while keeping patients and family members calm
Ensure various administrative forms related to injuries and accidents are completely and accurately filled out
Administer first aid to skiers or others that walk into base facilities and complete procedures as necessary, including application of ice, cleaning, and bandaging wounds
Confer with supervisors and other company personnel to coordinate first aid tasks and obtain information for forms
If responding to injuries in the base lodge, ensure Dispatch is called prior to leaving station
Complete primary and secondary survey on all injured and ill customers, i.e., walk-ins and injured persons brought in by rescue personnel
Responsible for stocking first aid supplies in the First Aid Room
Responsible for taking and interpreting vital signs
Obtain information regarding past medical history pertinent to current illness or injury
Evaluate more than double the number of injured customers than on hill patrol staff
Alert to possible liability situations and notify proper management personnel
Obtain witness statements to complete documentation process
Maintain confidentiality
Check all equipment, backboards, blankets KTD’S oxygen, etc. to ensure working order
Clean and repackage used backboards, oxygen, KTD’S etc.
Make sled packs
Maintain cleanliness and order in First aid Room
Insure prompt return of patrollers to hill
Arranges transportation of injures and ill persons within the ski area and to medical facilities and relay medical status to ambulance service, as needed
Teach preventive measures for frostbite, sunburn, hypothermia, etc., as well as promoting skier and rider education
Responsible for calling in code ones to dispatch and notifying ski school, rentals, lifts, children’s center of accidents and their disposition
Locate, handle, and label injured customer’s equipment properly
Answer telephone calls and refer to proper channel
Assist with locating missing persons and referring to Guest Services
Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Basic education (high school)
Current LPN Vermont license
Current EMT Vermont certification
Current CPR certification
Must pass OEC prior to staffing aid room
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good technical knowledge and skills in triage, patient assessment, first aid administration
Familiarity with standard treatment for common skiing injuries
Good basic reading and writing skills
Ability to deal with injured skiers and other customers in a courteous, efficient, and confident manner
Needs working knowledge of mountain, proper procedures to follow and proper lines of communication
Working knowledge of EMS required
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
