Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation: Starting pay rate of $17.75, actual wage will be adjusted based on experience.
Benefits: Part-time, seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
The Mountain Safety Team will be our on-hill representation of safety and guest service. Attendants will provide positive educational feedback to guests in designated areas and model correct behavior while skiing and riding. The goal will not be to enforce specific behaviors and/or correct individual behavior, but rather have a positive influence on decision-making through loosely scripted communications and signage. These efforts will maintain an enjoyable environment for skiers and riders of all levels in specific areas of the resort.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Promote an enjoyable experience for skiers and riders of all levels
Strive to positively influence on-hill culture with respects to safety, courtesy, and etiquette without being a martinet
Educate guests on the Skier Responsibility Code, resort policies, and best practices.
Knowledge of the #rideanotherday campaign
Address and resolve customer behavior issues as it relates to safe skiing and riding, and adherence to Your Responsibility Code
Guest service and wayfinding.
Work closely with Ski Patrol and Ambassadors creating an on-hill environment that meets our guests' expectations
Maintain mountain safety signage and material
Provide courteous, accurate, and reliable information to the guest regarding weather and ski reports, special events, activities, and general knowledge of the resort
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Must be able to communicate fluently in English
Knowledge of Killington’s mountains/trails, facilities, products, services, customer service mission, and group activities; and a general understanding of the ski industry
Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day
Must be able to work in adverse weather and perform various duties
Must be able to stand on snow in ski equipment for extended periods
Expert ability to ski or ride
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Patience
Effective communication and de-escalation skills
Must have excellent guest service skills and experience
Must be mature, reliable, and courteous
Positive work ethic
Ability to work with limited daily supervision when necessary
Ability to work cooperatively with other departments
Willingness to accept additional responsibilities and perform additional tasks as dictated by operational situations
Ability to work weekends and holidays
Schedule:
Part Time, Seasonal: 1-4 days per week, 6-7 hours per day
