About the job:
We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Network Specialist to support and optimize Wi-Fi and LTE network infrastructure in an open-pit mining environment. This role will involve troubleshooting UE (User Equipment) radios, RF-related issues, call processing KPIs, and analyzing system logs, while ensuring network performance meets operational demands in a challenging mining landscape. The ideal candidate will have experience in wireless networking, RF engineering, and network monitoring in industrial or remote environments..
Skills and Responsibilities:Responsibilities:
Open-Pit Mining Network Support: Monitor, maintain, and optimize wireless communication networks (Wi-Fi, LTE, Private LTE/5G) deployed in open-pit mining operations to ensure seamless connectivity for autonomous vehicles, IoT sensors, and field personnel.UE & RF Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve UE radio issues, RF impairments, and signal degradation caused by terrain, heavy machinery, and environmental factors.Call Processing & KPI Optimization: Monitor and analyze call processing KPIs (Call Setup Success Rate, Drop Call Rate, Throughput, Handovers, Latency, etc.) to ensure reliable communication in the mine site.System Logs & Debugging: Interpret and analyze system logs, traces, and network events to troubleshoot network issues and maintain high uptime in a dynamic mining environment.Network Performance Analysis: Utilize network performance tools (such as TEMS, SolarWinds, Wireshark etc.) to assess and improve connectivity and coverage across the site.RF Planning & Optimization: Support RF planning, tuning, and optimization for Wi-Fi and LTE networks in mining sites, considering interference from equipment and geological formations.Testing & Benchmarking: Conduct drive testing, RF surveys, and field measurements to assess network coverage and identify areas for improvement.Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with operations, engineering, IT, and vendor teams to resolve connectivity issues and ensure reliable wireless communication for mining operations.In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in wireless network troubleshooting, RF engineering, or network performance analysis with a focus on Wi-Fi and LTE technologies in industrial, remote, or rugged environments.Communication:
Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.Behavior/ Core Competencies:
Strong knowledge of wireless protocols (802.11, LTE, 5G-NR).Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, network analyzers, and troubleshooting tools.Proficiency in network performance software such as TEMS, Wireshark, Solarwinds, or similar tools.Familiarity with system logs, traces, and debugging techniques for network issue resolution.Experience in RF propagation modelling, coverage optimization, and interference mitigation in rugged, large-scale outdoor environments.HSSEQ:
