Wiring Harness Design & Release Engineer

General Description:

Design, validate and release electrical wiring harness for the assigned vehicle families. Root-cause and solve failures throughout the product’s life cycle. Propose and execute cost optimization actions to these components.

Main Activities:

Manage design modifications to wiring harnesses (Document via Change Notices). Lead design reviews and issue resolution meetings with suppliers. Perform design verification activities as directed by Design Lead. Support the wiring Program Manager in the definition of product investigation’s technical solutions, cost and timing. Sign off parts at manufacturing locations prior to assembly in vehicles. Analyze and publish interim approvals for design deviations, part substitutions, etc. Root-cause, contain and solve issues found during design, assembly, durability and field. Track and improve design maturity and quality metrics for the assigned commodities. Plan, track and execute cost reduction actions. Present issue resolution actions to management. Support Design Lead in supplier sourcing processes. Support vehicle line milestone events at the assembly plant. Create design studies in CAD. Undertake training as directed by manager.

Basic Requirements

BS in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automotive or related 3 to 5 years of experience in Automotive industry and Product Development Experience in Wiring design and release Experience in DFMEA and DVP&R development and execution Expertise in change management, vehicle specification and bill of material analysis Good communication skills both written and spoken. Good English language Conflict management skills

Preferred:

DFSS Green or Black Belt Reactive Green belt or Shainin Journeyman
