Job Summary

The Office of the Dean of Students at the University of Michigan-Flint is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter to help coordinate basic needs and resources for students in the Wolverine Essentials resource center. This position will assist with research into the basic needs of current students, lead marketing and social media efforts, assess the services we currently provide, and examine other models of providing direct service to students.

What You'll DoAssist with daily operations of Wolverine Essentials resource center.Assist with food and clothing inventory.Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines and policies.Receive food and clothing donations per the stated guidelines.Provide one-on-one intakes for new users, discuss additional resource needs, and make appropriate referrals.Recruit, train, and assess volunteers.Manage related websites and social media.Create and distribute marketing materials.Research and propose new evaluation and assessment opportunities.Research other models in higher education that provide basic needs to students.Create and conduct assessments. Use results to inform and improve policy and services.Serve as a Campus Security Authority.Required Qualifications*Good academic and non-academic disciplinary standing.Strong people skills with sensitivity to the needs of students.Self-motivation and discipline to carry out independent tasks.Excellent organization skills and ability to work with highly detailed information.Must have awarded Work Study for the Winter 2025 semesterDesired Qualifications*Currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Education, and/or Social Work; or currently pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally informed manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.Strong sense of professional and personal ethical responsibility.Strong understanding and commitment to issues of diversity and social justice.Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
