We are seeking applicants for a Wood Procurement Forester in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill.
The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.
The purpose of this position is to work with Fiber Procurement Manager on the effective sourcing of International Falls’ fiber requirements for pulp production and biomass energy needs. This position has significant responsibility in planning, managing, and reporting wood fiber flows, forest certification, quality, costs and inventories for the International Falls mill. This includes routine day-trip travel to work directly with fiber suppliers.
Principle Accountabilities:
Serves as principal contact for fiber suppliers on any changes in suppliers’ production plans, monthly delivery planning and schedules, changes in PCA’s delivery requirements, and any questions/issues regarding individual loads.Supervises harvest operations on controlled stumpage timber sales. Monitors compliance to best management practices and closely tracks fiber sources back to the parcel of origin to ensure adequate controls to support consumer scaling agreements and Chain of Custody certification claims.Responsible for monitoring the quality of roundwood and chips procured and for taking immediate action to correct any discrepancies in quality of fiber purchased.Visits fiber suppliers both in the forest and at manufacturing facilities to work with them on fiber quality issues, and to support the Fiber Procurement Manager in price/contract negotiations.
Basic Qualifications:
4-year degree in forestry, natural resources, and/or related field preferred. Valid Driver’s license required.Strong interpersonal skills required. Strong logistics/transportation skills preferred. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
