Employees in this job class study specifications, fasten and install parts as well as repair defective containers by replacing damaged parts. Work involves using a variety of tools, with attention to knowing and using safe work practices. **TYPICAL DUTIES:** 1. *Measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns and templates. 2. *Inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers. 3. *Build crates around objects, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nailer. 4. Fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork on vehicle sides and beds. 5. *Applies preservative to prolong wood life. 6. *Packs, seals, bands, and applies markings to crates and containers 7. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. *DenotesEssential Job Function **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** · 0 to 1 year of work experience, preferably in construction, carpentry or maintenance; · Ability to follow instructions on labels for proper and safe use of tools and equipment; · Fluency in the use of ruler, pencil, hand and power tools, including saws, as well as hammer, nailing machine, or power stapler; · Basic mathematical ability, ability to read and use measurements; · Ability to work safely; · Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities; · Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common sense skills. **EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:** Not Applicable **CERTIFICATES REQUIRED: ** The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements: ** ** **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:** ** ** Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance: • Maneuvering to and around equipment • Standing and walking • Bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching • Lifting of boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds • Climbing ladders or step stools **WORK ENVIRONMENT:** Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility.
