Work Readiness Supervisor

We are hiring in Washington, DC! Join us for an exciting career as a Work Readiness Supervisor. 

Wage/Salary: $55k to $62k 

Position Summary: 

Position supervises workshop facilitators and trainers while implementing and adapting hard skills and work readiness curriculum. Oversees the execution of workshop curriculum, administration of Industry Recognized Credential exams and other assessment of readiness, aptitude, and skill evaluations of participants. Performs administrative classroom duties and instructs participants in the program in preparation for unsubsidized employment. Provides supervision to those conducting workshops and manages performance and growth. Performs ancillary duties related to his/her area of expertise, including providing vocational, computer and work readiness skills for the agency.

Two separate programs comprise our Workforce Development contract with the District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services (DHS); Job Placement’s primary focus is Customer placement into unsubsidized employment; and Education and Occupational Training’s primary focus is to enhance a customer’s skill level through education and training to be referred to a Job Placement program after receiving credentials. Additional details provided below: 

 

Education and Occupational Training (EOT): Case management supports, barrier removal, development and monitoring of training programs, possible on-site training with industry recognized credentials. Outreach and non-compliance support services.

 

Job Placement (JP): Case management supports, barrier removal, job readiness training, job development services, services to assist with career advancement, retention services. Outreach and non-compliance support services.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Coordinates teaching schedules, vacations, and other time off of staff. Oversees preparation of accurate and timely verbal and written reports to other relevant staff on participant training progress and hands on skills and work behaviors. Instructs participants in established curriculum using course materials through individual and group instructional methods. Maintains complete and accurate daily and weekly participant attendance and punctuality records, test scores and Facilitator reports to Case Managers. Addresses participant regarding issues such as inappropriate behaviors and timely reports interaction to appropriate staff and documented in funder system Devises and administers participant practical training exercises in the classroom and computer lab settings. Communicates program concerns and plans for curriculum revision to supervisor for budgetary planning. Revises curriculum and course objectives as required. Participates in outreach activities to selected groups for potential consumer referrals. Assists in selecting, developing, evaluating, and assigning work responsibilities to workshop Facilitators. Conducts regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions with direct reports. Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, such as psychology, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation from an accredited institution preferred. One (1) year of supervisory or related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Four (4) years’ experience as an instructor with familiarity with Certiport, AHLEI, OSHA and/or other industry recognized exam proctoring. Bi-lingual (English Spanish) candidates preferred.
