The Workday Payroll System Analyst is a member of the team that will explore actions, recommends, and determine Workday Payroll system features to implement. This position is responsible for preparing requirements and specifications for system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations of other companies. Components include design, requirements, system testing, and production implementation. Maintaining, documenting, archiving, testing new releases, evaluation of tax code configuration, set up new pay codes, GL accounts, and interfaces with a heavy focus on report maintenance and development. This position is also responsible for backing up processing payment operations for over 14,000 employees in thirty-nine states across nineteen entities.

Responsibilities

Work requires special knowledge of the Workday Payroll, Timekeeping, Absence, Advance reporting, and work regularly requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in areas such as making recommendations/decisions regarding what features the system requires to compute payroll accurately, assess legal implications, and developing steps, protocols, and best execution for integrating other companies/legal entities.

Responsible for recommending and determining features to implement. Prepare program requirements/specifications on how to integrate the process, make decisions on the processing sequence, perform test cases, interpret results, and determine implementation steps and training. Identifies system inefficiencies, makes recommendations on corrective processes, and performs all necessary documentation to maintain a stable system.

The Payroll System Analyst will explore actions to take for new configuration needed or process enhancements to determine the best alternative.

Analyze Daily, Semi-Monthly, Monthly and Annual payroll KPI reports for various markets across thirty-nine states. Create or maintain reports and interfaces to balance various subsystems (Timekeeping, Commissions, Awards) into Workday Payroll system and processes jobs to generate pay transactions. Analyze Gross to Net payroll and balance outbound interfaces from Workday Payroll to external and internal systems. Payroll System Analyst evaluates the impact and recommends enhancements and under supervision makes changes.

Heavy focus on maintaining and developing payroll validation reports for payroll team to ensure all payroll transactions, in general are accurate.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to generating data extracts, special legal requests, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.

Qualifications       

Bachelor’s degree required.

3-5 years of direct experience in Workday Payroll configuration, advance/matrix reports, calculated fields, custom objects, and EIBs strongly preferred.

4-6 years Accounting or Payroll Analysis preferred.

Ability to write program specification and document procedures.

Ability to understand technical terminology to communicate effectively with IT staff.

Ability to think logically and understand job submissions and balancing flow.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Professional communication skills required both written and verbal.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ability to explain complex issues in logical and understandable manner.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - American Payroll Association preferred.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$66,560.00 - $88,200.00
