**Job Description:**

This role will have a significant impact on engagement with injured employees, assisting in the safe and effective return to work process following a workplace injury.
**Responsibilities**
• Function as the subject matter expert and program coordinator for the Workers’ Compensation, Early and Safe Return to Work, and Fit for Duty programs.
• Actively manage company coverage in monopolistic states (Washington, Wyoming, Ohio, Guam, and Puerto Rico).
• Guide injured employees through the claims process, including monitoring medical management.
• Proactively stay informed of industry regulations, record retention standards, best practices, and emerging trends.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply EHS regulatory, legal interpretive text, and workers comp laws.
• Complete and maintain worker’s compensation-related documentation and records according to company and legislative confidentiality and retention requirements, which include accident/incident reporting, OSHA log updates, intra-company reports, and responsiveness to electronic and other requests for support, in conjunction with the assigned claims adjuster at the insurance carrier.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, and Treasury Management to affirm or contest claim reserve increases and changes.
• Attend in-person deposition meetings as employer representative with legal counsel to meet with injured worker and opposing counsel before Workers’ Compensation hearings.
• Report and/or correct unsafe acts and work conditions promptly.
• Actively manage company relationships with outside medical vendors, such as hospitals, occupational health centers, and urgent care facilities, etc.
• Collaborate with injured employees and managers to maintain an acceptable WCB experience rating and contractor qualification risk rating by making efforts to minimize restricted/lost days.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with external partners. Provide claim status and injury-trending data to leadership.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including safety, operations leaders, Leave of Absence team, Human Resources, and the Legal Department.
• Uphold discretion and confidentiality in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
**Qualifications**
• Collaborate with injured employees and supervisors to facilitate a smooth and successful return to work.
• Show exceptional emotional intelligence and customer service for employees in stressful situations.
• Possess effective communication skills that facilitate successful interactions with employees and supervisors during challenging conversations.
• Maintain exceptional organizational skills and impeccable document and records management.
• Manage and work with external partners, including claims adjusters, case managers, and early medical intervention (telehealth).
• Monitor, track, and review risk in order to make decisions regarding claim progress, treatment options, and appeals.
• Be able to work independently in a paced environment with the ability to prioritize.
• Litigation management experience on assigned claims.
• Familiar with confidential document management and HIPAA
**Education and Experience Requirements**
• Three years or more experience managing WC claims and WC accounts (insurance, legislative requirements) across multiple States (including monopolistic States).
• Leadership skills and collaborative thinking
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment with multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently, as well as an active member of the HR teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Initiative-taking, self-directed, and organized.
• Excellent time management and follow-up skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Elevated level of attention to detail and accuracy required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment and diplomacy.
• Must be PC proficient.
• Available to work evenings/weekends – occasionally, if needed.
**Physical Requirements:**
• Prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
• Repeated motion of hand and fingers.
• Prolonged periods of sitting.
• Periodic walking of the facility.
