We are currently seeking a Workers’ Compensation Coordinator (WCC) who embodies the Stantec value “We Put People First”. This role will have a significant impact on engagement with injured employees, assisting in the safe and effective return to work process following a workplace injury.
Your Key Responsibilities
Act as the subject matter expert and program manager for Stantec’s Workers’ Compensation, Early and Safe Return to Work, and Fit for Duty programs, specifically for US-based Workers’ Compensation matters (although knowledge of Canadian Worker Compensation system is a plus!). Guide injured employees through the claims process, including monitoring medical management. Assist complex claim issue resolutions, including litigation management. Maintain worker’s compensation-related documentation and records according to company and legislative confidentiality and retention requirements. Share responsibility for oversight of Worker’s Compensation account management with Risk Management and with Payroll for Monopolistic States. Provide support, and coverage for other HSSE Programs such as Alcohol & Drug and Medical Surveillance. Collaborate with injured employees, supervisors, and HSSE Managers to maintain an acceptable WCB experience rating and contractor qualification risk rating by making efforts to minimize restricted/lost days. Provide claim status and injury trending data to Operations. Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, compliance and evaluation of HSSE programs/services, supporting documents and tools. Proactively stay informed of industry regulations, record retention standards, best practices, and emerging trends. Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with external partners. Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including HSSE, operations leaders, Leave of Absence team, Human Resources, and the Legal Department. Uphold discretion and confidentiality in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.Your Capabilities and Competencies
Work collaboratively with injured employees and supervisors to facilitate a smooth and successful return to work. Show exceptional emotional intelligence and customer service for employees in stressful situations. Possess effective communication skills that facilitate successful interactions with employees and supervisors during challenging conversations. Maintain exceptional organizational skills and impeccable document and records management. Manage and work with external partners, including claims adjusters, case managers, and early medical intervention (telehealth). Monitor, track, and review risk, in order to make decisions regarding claim progress, treatment options and appeals. Be able to work independently in fast paced environment with ability to prioritize. Litigation management experience on assigned claims Familiar with confidential document management and HIPAA Proficiency with MS Office suitesEducation and Experience
Five years or more experience managing WC claims and WC accounts (insurance, legislative requirements) across multiple States (including monopolistic States) Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Occupational, Health & Safety (OHS), Business Administration, Psychology, Social Work, or other related field of study Diploma, certification or designation in Disability Management (CRTWC, CDMP, CHRP), Insurance (CPCU, AIC), or Safety (CSP) would be an assetThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL Min Pay Range: $84,000 Max Pay Range: $122,000 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) Min Pay Range: CA Other Areas $84,000 Max Pay Range: CA Other Areas $130,900 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
