Day in the Life 

Responsible for verifying Workers' Compensation claims, obtaining MRI authorizations, surgical authorizations, scheduling peer to peer reviews, coordinating Independent Medical Examinations and completion of Disability/ FMLA forms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Surgical Authorizations (coverage only)

Appointment Verification New and returning

Peer to Peer calls  

Completion of FMLA/Disability Forms

Coordinating Independent Medical Examinations

Maintain all WC information in Allscript, SRS and the W drive. (NCM lists, surgical information, WC "blues", surgical list by site) Enter appropriate data/information in computer system for the purpose of establishing case management and utilization. Receive and promptly return all calls to patients, WC adjusters, Nurse Case Managers and others. Discuss in person or per telephone call: change of work status or treatment plan along with follow up patient instructions.   Process WC triage phone messages and test results. Coordinate care with physician, patient and primary MD as needed. Meet with case managers, prospective clients and participates in other sales activities as assigned to assist with the business development process. Provide WC with faxed work status reports, office visit notes, OR reports and all appropriate test results, "No Shows" and forms in the appropriate time frame utilizing HIPPA guidelines.     Assist in the orientation of new personnel Meet with patients at front desk with various issues about form completion or medical care. Knowledge of Medical Terminology Knowledge of phone systems and All scripts patient Management system Operates basic office equipment such as telephone, fax, and computer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent. Microsoft Office experience with knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook a plus. Previous experience with Workers' Compensation/Health Insurance. Ability to multitask. Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to maintain courteous, professional report with all Nurse Case Managers and Adjusters. Fluent in English required. Healthcare industry knowledge helpful.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Sitting, and talking for long periods of time while operating a telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate such as found in a normal business office with computers.
