The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse serves as a role model. consultant, change agent, and facilitator. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of quality patient care for patients with ostomies and complex wound and drainage problems, as well as in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers and/or other disorders of the skin. Serves as a liaison for the physician, nursing staff, ancillary departments and external agencies to implement processing of the patient through the health care continuum. QualificationsBachelor's Degree in nursing required, Masters Degree preferred. Must meet licensing requirements to practice registered nursing within the state of Maryland. Min. 4 years of medical surgical exp. Must possess certification (WOCN) wound ostomy continence nurses society. Requires the ability to prioritize work loads.
