BACKGROUND:

In response to the situation in Libya, the IRC launched an emergency program in September 2016 which aimed to provide life-saving medical care and integrated protection services. At present, the IRC is implementing health and protection activities in Tripoli and Misurata, while expanding its protection department, with a focus on community-based protection, the rule of law, child protection, violence against women and girls, and MHPSS across all its project locations. Recently, the IRC has established a center for psychosocial support activities for women and adolescent girls (WGSS), and for children (SHLS) in Misrata and Tripoli. The IRC’s Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program has been operational in both Misrata and Tripoli since 2016. The WPE program in both locations provide life-saving services to conflict-affected and displaced women and girls, including violence against women and girls survivors, IDPS, Migrants  and host community women and girls are provided with a safe space to access case management and psychosocial support and to Attend skills-building and socio-economic empowerment activities. The IRC also works through local women led organizations and is in the process of identifying more CSOs to channel through its protection programming especially about women protection and empowerment.

 

 Job Overview/Summary: under the supervision of the WPE senior officer the Case Worker will work as part of WPE Team and will be responsible for providing direct case management and psychosocial services, including group-based psychosocial activities through WGSS service delivery units to displaced women and girls and survivors of violence against women and girls, in Misurata.

Major RESPONSIBILITIES: The Case Worker shall:

Provide age-appropriate case management to survivors of violence against women and girls including assessment of client needs; basic crisis counseling; supporting clients in developing a plan to address their individual needs and safely implementing this plan; support to clients in pursuing services from other service providers as per clients’ wishesEnsure that information collected `from t survivor is secured and kept confidential through GBVIMS Primero and referrals. Provide services to adolescent girl survivors of violence against women and girls, including case management, age appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors, Do No Harm analysis, and safety planning Provide group psychosocial support to women and girls; facilitate sessions focused on building awareness of different themes related to their wellbeing, safety planning, and deliver key messages on violence against women and girls.Provide essential information on available services and support survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing servicesParticipate in facilitating the Girl Shine Curriculum, the Arab Women Speak Out Curriculum, Women Rise  and another behavior change strategies that the IRC WPE team may adopt for its programming. Lead age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services for adolescent girls through identified or established safe spaces.Carry out community outreach and awareness raising on available services and key messages on violence against women and girls.Identify concerns related to and support adherence to referral protocols and guiding principles, and bring these concerns to the WPE Senior Officer.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.Document all program and client activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and formsComplete weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the WPE Officer Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure successful implementation of WPE emergency response plan.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: the Case Worker position will directly report to the Senior WPE Officer
