General Statement The WWAMI Medical Education Program provides education at MSU Bozeman for first and second-year medical students in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine. The teaching occurs in multiple successive teaching blocks covering material ranging from biochemistry, cell biology, and genetics to organ system physiology. Teaching occurs in a variety of formats including lectures, small groups, and case-based discussions.

Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, a couple weeks, a semester or an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration.

This will include: preparing for classes facilitating student learning during classes reviewing and discussing assignments following up on a regular basis with students or as needed student remediation serving as a resource for medical students submitting evaluations to the school of mediation in a timely manner participating in faculty meetings and committee work of the WWAMI curriculum, inter-professional education, and service-learning activities as assigned Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills MD/DO or PhD in one of the Biological Sciences relevant to the medical school curriculum Documented interest in teaching Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Instructional experience in a medical education curriculum Expertise in in the biological sciences related to the medical school curriculum, especially cell biology, molecular biology, medical genetics, or organ system physiology Demonstration of excellence in teaching, ideally with experience in active learning and the use of educational technology Experience with collegiality and collaboration in an inter-professional environment Skills or experience that contribute to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment Excellent skills in organization, time management, and written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills The Successful Candidate Will Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills Have experience communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences. Have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and in different roles. Maintain effective attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing competing demands Possess a commitment to health education. Take initiative and work well independently. WWAMI places special emphasis on meeting the healthcare needs of the State, recognizing the importance of training primary care physicians and advancing medical knowledge. The WWAMI Medical Program at Montana State University admits 30 Montana residents into the program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Montana WWAMI students complete the first year and a half of medical school at MSU, including training in both the basic sciences and clinical skills.
