We have a great opportunity for a Yard Attendant in our Hooksett, NH location! 

Summary

This position is responsible for the operation, staging, loading and unloading of heavy and light duty trucks and equipment. The position also consists of maintaining the appearance of the yard/branch, assisting mechanics, drivers or other staff with various labor-based tasks and completing other daily assignments that support the branch operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quickly and safely evaluate and identify the needed materials, tooling, and steps necessary to finish the needed task.Inspect parts, equipment or vehicles for cleanliness, damage and compliance with standards.  Detail and clean trucks to prepare them for shipping/delivery.Load and unload equipment and vehicles plus check for any damage.Responsible for the maintenance of the building, yard, and equipment.Monitor inventory in yard and oversee incoming/outgoing vehicles.Test drive equipment.Perform all duties in accordance with best practices for a safe work environment.Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL B) with a clean driving record.High school diploma or the equivalentKnowledge of utility and/or vocation vehicles and familiarity with operating systems including but not limited to, booms, buckets, diggers, cable reels, hi-rail, Dump Trucks, Roll Offs and track vehicles.Forklift driving experience a plus.Proven commitment to safety.

Troubleshooting:  Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do.Operation and Control:  Controlling operations of equipment or systems.Operation Monitoring:  Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.Quality Control Analysis:  Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Equipment Selection:  Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Judgment and Decision Making:  Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Attitude:  Requires “people” skills and a genuine desire to service the client.  A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with vendors and team members is essential to this position.Attendance:  The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance of Monday – Friday 7 AM – 3:30 PM, plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands.Physical:  The job is performed under extreme temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.  Lifting (in excess of 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout an 8-10 hours day.Communication:  Excellent oral and written communication skills.Teamwork:  Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests.Diversity:  Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; Promotes a harassment-free environment.Ethics:  Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values.
