Yard Driver 2nd Shift
**Job Description** **Garelick Farms, Dairy Farmers of America, is excited to announce an opening for a 2nd Shift Yard Driver.** **We offer excellent benefits and competitive pay with great growth opportunities!** **GENERAL PURPOSE** Operate shuttles to move trailers from building to building, staging area, and from various loading dock doors. Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations. **JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices. + Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs + Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person + Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift. + Fuel the yard truck as needed + Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units + Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed + Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations + Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift + Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor + Attend all driver workshops and training sessions + Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals. + The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required. **Requirements** **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** + High school diploma or equivalent preferred. + Experience driving or shuttling tractor trailers preferred. + Must meet minimum age requirements. + Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records. + Must meet all DOT requirements as needed. + Certification and/or License – driver’s license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES** + Basic knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements. + Able to perform the duties of this role in all weather conditions. + Able to communicate effectively. + Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork. + Able to follow directions and meet deadlines. + Able to be punctual. + Able to work in a fast-paced environment. + Good record keeping skills. + Basic math skills. + Must be able to read, write and speak English.
