Job Description

Our Macraes Open Pit Maintenance Workshop are on the search for a yard person. This role involves carrying out duties required for the general upkeep of the Open Pit Workshop and surrounding areas and where required, assisting Workshop and Stores personal with inwards and outwards goods, and general housekeeping duties.   

The is a 5 on / 2 off / 4 on / 3 off, dayshift only roster.  

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Maintenance and general upkeep of workshop and stores facilities, including remote facilitiesCompleting the Weekly-Monthly compliance tasksGeneral housekeeping and dust removal in the workshop and storesCompleting upgrades, installing new services and equipment (minor works)Carrying out projectsGeneral yard duties; rubbish removal, weed spraying, signage repairs and replacementFollowing all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures when required.

QualificationsFull and current drivers licence, and confidence driving manual vehiclesA forklift endorsement is idealNo formal qualification however a good mechanical aptitude will be requiredA current First Aid Certificate is preferredPhysically fit – able to safely lift 25kgGood written and verbal communication skillsPossess a high degree of safety awareness

Experience:                

As a handyman or Jack of all tradesWorking within an industrial, manufacturing or mining sector-based organisationWorking well both independently and as part of a team
