Summary:  

The Yard Supervisor in Akutan Alaska oversees the container yard, dock, and recycling in support of production and supply chain operations.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Supervise daily operations of the shipping yard, recycling facilities, and incinerator, optimizing workflow and resource utilization. Provide support to the dock crew with vessel support as needed. Manage inventory storage and handling, ensuring continuous production flow and accurate record-keeping using Innova for shipping containers and other inventory. Coordinate incoming and outgoing container shipments with logistics partners, including the delivery of supplies according to departmental protocols. Oversee the shipment of recycled materials, hazardous waste, and hazardous materials, working closely with EH&S to ensure full regulatory compliance. Implement and monitor recycling programs, including the open burn pit for pallets and cardboard (where permitted and compliant), to minimize waste and reduce shipping costs. Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and standard operating procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, Recycle, Dock, and yard area. Enforce safety protocols and foster a strong safety culture within the team. Maintain accurate records of all activities, including inventory, incineration, emissions, compliance reports, safety training, and certifications.  Ensure all documentation is current and readily accessible. Manage all compliance paperwork and documentation. Ensure all items are handled and stored according to established safety and quality standards. Manage team member performance, including conducting performance reviews and initiating disciplinary actions when necessary. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report major maintenance issues to the appropriate department (e.g., truck shop).
