Yard Truck Driver

Job Description:

The Shipping Yard Truck Operator role is responsible for internal trailer movements in our yard to assure smooth operations in receiving and warehouse operations as well as other duties as assigned, but not limited to, those listed below. Every associate at Mars has the responsibility for the achievement of quality and food safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to plan work on a daily basis, work independently and be self motivated.Ability to work with a team and effectively interact with other departments and outside vendors.Computer literate with understanding of keyboard and data base concepts.Familiarity with inventory control, traffic and production.Knowledge of warehousing and sanitation best practices.Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces and have mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting.Ability to work under tight schedules in high pressure situations.Communication skill for accurate transfer of information to carriers and associates in other departments.Self-directed with organization and time management skills.Hearing/speaking ability in person and on the phone.Prior forklift experience a plus.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

Must not be afraid of heights; must be capable of working at elevated heights.Must not be unusually sensitive to chemicals (contact lenses not recommended).Vision correctable to 20/20.Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.Standing on a concrete floor.Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals.Able to work with minimal supervision.Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequently.Able to work with minimal supervision.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Responsible for the proficient execution of any combination of the following unit operations:

Spotting Trailers - Use yard truck to move trailers in/out of dock doors and wet receiving area. Perform trailer drop lot inspections, organization and reconciliation.Equipment Inspections - Conduct thorough Yard truck, trailer and forklift inspections prior to using piece of equipment, filling out all inspections completely and appropriate repair work orders.Shipping Product- Load trailers according to loading specifications and in a manner which delivers product on time (arrives when originally expected) and complete (accurate by item and damage free) as measured by our customers and other receiving destinations.Receiving Product – Inspect, verify quantity and item(s), unload, and correctly warehouse all in-bound shipments (finished goods and materials) using safe procedures while maintaining the quality of all products and using accurate inventory management procedures.Product Movement - Operate forklift equipment to move product from and within the warehouse to trailers and/or remove product from palletizers and put away in warehouse locations as needed. Will be required to operate in a manner maintaining required sanitation levels. Repair and recoup damaged goods as accidentally created during product movement and document as required. Follow FIFO principles for finished products.Material Handling - Perform accurate inventory transactions into PRMS.Create proper re-ship tags and ASN labels as required and tagging pallets from the palletizer as needed. Organize warehouse and all warehouse supplies, shipping materials, packaging materials.Manual Picking and Palletizing - Accurately pick all products for mixed pallets, properly palletize and stretch wrap finished skid, and label correctly.Cycle Counting – Be able to properly cycle count all areas of warehouse and be able to make appropriate inventory adjustments in inventory system.

Other Responsibilities:

Provide coverage for Shipping Tech to include knowledge of printing pick list/order and yard management system maintenance.Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, dock and trailer storage areas. · Participate in problem solving groups as appropriate.Participate in vendor assurance activities.Order supplies according to each individual area.Check current shipment orders for accuracy and make daily reports.Train other associates in operation of all areas and systems.Participate in site safety program and actively look for ways to improve site and area safety.Other similar duties as assigned.Overtime may be required.What can you expect from Mars?Work with diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.  Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
