Back to search Location: St. Cloud, MN Department: Fleet Maintenance Posted: 12/11/2024 Location Name: ATS Maintenance - St. Cloud, MN Wage: Depends on Experience Hourly Summary The Yard Worker is responsible for all duties related to trailer & truck movement within the yard. Primary duties would include daily asset yard inventory, shuttling / stacking of trailers, daily forklift truck(s) inspections, staging and/or pre-configuring equipment, and general yard clean-up of MEC and debris—some minor technical repairs/duties such as basic lighting, mud flaps, etc. Education and Experience + High School Diploma or equivalent is required, and 1-2 years experience operating vehicles and/or heavy equipment in a transportation environment is preferred. + Must be able to operate all yard-related equipment. + Experience using essential mechanic hand tools to make minor repairs on trailer equipment. + Basic understanding of tractor/trailer air systems. + Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently. + Must be a team player, amenable to various work projects. + Must have forklift certification or become certified within 90 days of employment. + Must be available to work occasional overtime, Saturdays, and other shift vacancies as needed. + Must demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. + Excellent communication skills (written, listening, and verbal). + Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Drive or forklift trucks and trailers around the yard to maintain order or move trucks to designated inspection/staging areas. + Perform full truck and trailer inventory daily or more frequently as needed. + Ensure forklifts are being maintained and inspected daily. + Stage For Sale assets for inspection when required and communicate effectively with the prep inspection supervisor when faced with unforeseen challenges. + Add/remove deck inserts, saddles, and goosenecks to multi-axle and Schnabel trailers when requested. + Upon operations' request, create steerable multi-axle trailers by swapping out trailer components and connecting airlines, pigtails, etc. + Assist in creating and maintaining the yard layout and relocate trailing equipment to create more space when equipment returns to the yard. + Report and/or make minor repairs when found on the trailers, such as replacing lights, air lines, fittings, pigtails, and other repairs primarily using hand tools. + Properly lockout tag out any asset as needed. + Assist drivers in the yard with the equipment as needed. + Work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme cold and hot throughout the year. + Understands and consistently performs in accordance with ATS Mission, Vision, and Values + Support ATS’ culture by aligning actions, behaviors, performance, and decisions in accordance with the Company’s values as set forth in our All-Employee Competencies. + Complete work responsibilities outside regular business hours as needed, and infrequent travel may be required. + Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. + Constantly operating various forklifts and other material movement equipment including semi tractors. + Intermittently uses hand tools and power hand tools to perform light maintenance or cleaning or enter data into computer. + Intermittently inspects and assess equipment and loads to ensure safe transportation. + Intermittently ascend/descend forklifts, tractors and ladders to perform duties. + Occasionally positioning self under, on top of, or in awkward positions to secure loads or fix things. + Occasionally communicates with others regarding work questions, processes, procedures and timelines. + Must be able to move/position parts, tools, equipment: + From 1 to 10 lbs. frequently + From 11 to 25 lbs. intermittently + From 25 to 50 lbs. occasionally + Over 50 lbs. occasionally + Exposure to: + Loud noises constantly requiring hearing protection. + Temperature extremes intermittently due to outside weather conditions. + Dirt, dust, grease, chemicals and odors constantly. + Situations requiring eye protection and steel toed boots.
