As the Fitness Certification Course lead, the Champion may also be required to communicate with the supervisors and/or mentors to ensure each candidate has the support required to complete the certification requirements.
In this role, you will:
Plan and deliver course content in accordance with YMCA guidelines, focusing on the needs of the course participants to maximize the learning experience.
· Evaluate participants following established YMCA criteria.
· Assist in the development of updating course materials.
· Assist in the development of new workshop content and continuing education materials.
· Coach and develop participants to meet success.
· Assist in mentoring new YMCA Canada Champions.
· Actively participates in scheduled programs, meetings and special events.
· In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assist and encourage program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.
· Other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
Commitment to the YMCA’s Mission, Vision and Values.
· Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
· YMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter.
You bring:
Certified YMCA Canada Champion.
· Current YMCA Instructor in relevant stream.
· Previous experience delivering courses or workshops.
· Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with participants.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Well-developed organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Flexibility with scheduling, including a willingness to work mornings, nights, and weekends.
· Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
