About the Role: π
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Advocate to support and empower students at Queens Satellite High School. In this role, you will provide guidance, advocacy, and essential resources to help students navigate academic and personal challenges. By fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, you will play a key role in enhancing student engagement, resilience, and success.
This position requires strong relationship-building skills, as you will work closely with students, families, school staff, and community partners to ensure tailored support that meets individual student needs. Your efforts will contribute to student growth, academic achievement, and post-secondary readiness. π
Key Responsibilities: β
+ Provide individualized academic, personal, and social support to students.
+ Develop and implement personalized support plans with students and families.
+ Facilitate workshops on conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and emotional well-being.
+ Act as a liaison between students, families, and community resources.
+ Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
+ Conduct attendance outreach and home/worksite visits as needed.
+ Guide students through college and career planning, including FAFSA and CUNY applications.
+ Organize post-secondary field trips and the Annual College & Career Expo.
+ Collaborate with DOE staff and school personnel to enhance student support.
+ Follow up with graduates and provide transition support.
Qualifications: π
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelorβs degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
+ Experience working with youth in a mentoring, counseling, or advocacy capacity.
+ Strong understanding of challenges faced by at-risk youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Masterβs degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
+ Bilingual proficiency to better serve diverse student populations.
+ Experience in program development and community outreach.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build meaningful connections.
+ Excellent problem-solving abilities to address student needs effectively.
+ Strong organizational skills for managing student records and caseloads.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, educators, and community partners.
+ Knowledge of post-secondary education pathways, including college and vocational training.
