As a Youth and Family Case Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of court-involved youth and their families. With a keen ability to assess needs and lead a collaborative treatment team, you will connect them with the resources they need, coordinate caregiver support activities and resources, and provide individual support to youth and their families. This role requires travel throughout King County, including transporting youth and families in your personal vehicle, as you provide hands-on, one-on-one support. As part of a close-knit team, you’ll also gain valuable insights into the juvenile justice and court system, together, we can empower families to be active members in their child's care and help them achieve their goals.
ABOUT PROGRAM
The Juvenile Justice Assessment Team (JJAT) seeks to increase behavioral health screening and assessments for youth ages 12 to 20 that enter the juvenile justice system. JJAT aims to divert youth with behavioral needs and diagnoses from further involvement into the juvenile justice system and decrease any incidences or severity of chemical dependency, mental health, and/or emotional disorders in young people. The position works in partnership with JJAT Mental Health Assessors, Substance Use Assessors and King County Juvenile Court Staff.

Responsibilities You'll be responsible for providing young people and families with non-judgmental, unconditional, and culturally responsive support. This means that no matter their background or situation, you'll be there to help them without bias or preconceptionsYou'll have to act as a bridge between the family and system representatives on the team. This could involve attending court hearings, probation appointments, detention visits, and more. Your goal is to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that the family's voice is being heardAs an advocate, you'll also work to ensure the youth and family have a say in their care. This could involve speaking up on their behalf with their juvenile probation counselor, truancy case manager, school representative, or any other referring partyYou'll be serving as the primary linkage support. This means that I'll be helping to connect youth with the resources they need, whether that's initial intake appointments with behavioral health, mental health supports outpatient, intensive outpatient, substance use supports, etc.Link youth with pro-social activities in their community. This could mean anything from mentor-ship to athletics to arts to employmentCoordinate and communicate developments for each youth to appropriate referring parties. This could include probation, Becca Programs, JJAT Staff, and moreOf course, youth and families must have a voice in all of this. That's why you'll work to encourage their voice and ensure it's heardAttend JJAT meetings as needed and complete progress notes and other paperwork, as well as service tracking documentation as indicatedMaintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and be able to travel and transport youth and families in all parts of Seattle, South King County and Tukwila as needed to best support them Qualifications
REQUIRED
Educational/Experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable work experience OR High school diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable work experience Applicable experience includes any paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends as neededMust be 21 years of ageAbility to provide transport to youth and families as needed Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other state or federal licensing or certification requirementsOwn vehicle; Valid Washington Drivers License and insurability by Seneca's automobile insurance carrierProof of COVID-19 vaccinationsPREFERRED
