Youth Build Program Director Rochester, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=265+N.+Clinton+Ave.+Rochester+NY+USA+14605) Job Type Full-time Description Reports to: Workforce Divisional Director Status: Exempt/Full-Time Job Responsibilities + Organize and manage internal program operations; monitor daily functioning of operations and review attendance and submit payroll records. + Manage enforcement of the contract between program and the trainees. + Manage educational and counseling program and supervise teaching and counseling staff. + Develop strong community support and collaborative partnerships. + Build and maintain effective working relations and linkages with community and educational organizations, city, state, county and federal agencies. + Establish and involve the program participants in program planning and operational decision making. + Develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with partner coalitions, and funders. The Director will collect and report data for ongoing program evaluation efforts as required by these entities. + Supervise all support services and special projects assigned to the program to ensure that program goals are met. + Design program and organizational structure; plan and coordinate development of program components to ensure quality and integration. + Establish and work with an Advisory Council on planning and policy issues. + Monitor the program’s progress towards goals and develop plans for corrective action as required. + Ensure that the program meets its goals. + Oversee the daily operation of the program including the development and monitoring of the budget. + Oversee the preparation and regular submission of all reports necessary for management and funding sources. + Recruit and interview candidates for positions within the program and make recommendations on personnel decisions to the Director of Human Resources. + Supervise program staff and monitor and evaluate the job performance of each team member in the program. + Attend and participate in Urban League functions and fundraising events. + Perform such duties as the supervisor may assign. Requirements + Master’s degree in counseling, education, human services or related field or equivalent experience preferred. Strong leadership skills and at least three years’ successful management or planning experience in a community-based setting. + Five year’s experience in counseling and/or alternative education in community-based setting. + Strong management and supervisory skills. + Must have deep respect for the ideas and intelligence of young adults + Excellent oral and written communications skills. + Demonstrated skill in nonprofit program development. + Strong commitment to youth leadership and empowerment and ability to work sensitively and effectively with young people. + Successful in creating collaborative relationships or coalitions. + Experience negotiating and working with community organizations and public agencies. + Ability to relate to, communicate with, and work with a diverse population and understand the issues relating to such a population. + Competency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. + Knowledge of available community resources a plus.
