Amergis is seeking passionate, compassionate, service-oriented individuals to work in a staff-secure setting with youth in the Department of Youth Services' care. This position provides a great opportunity to positively influence a youth’s life by being a patient and supportive caregiver. The role is multifaceted and includes teaching, limit-setting, advocating, coordinating care, and serving as a role model and mentor. Position Details: Location: Clinton, MA (orientation is two weeks in Grafton, MA) Duration: 13 weeks to start, with the likelihood of extension Facility Type: Detention Center Schedule: 3 PM-11 PM OR 11 PM-7 AM – Full-time and part-time openings available Salary: $25/hour Job Responsibilities: Engage actively with youth in a participatory and positive, strength-based manner. Use principles and practices of youth development and trauma-informed care to create a safe and therapeutic environment. Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity. Foster the youth’s skills and interests and mentor their positive development. Implement program activities and maintain safe and effective program operations. Promote responsible and healthy decision-making among youth. Complete necessary paperwork and reporting requirements. Act in an ethical and professional manner, and maintain clear boundaries with youth, co-workers, and supervisors. Implement applicable safety and emergency requirements, including using crisis prevention and de-escalation skills. Qualifications: 18 years of age or older Valid driver’s license English must be your first language At least one year of experience working with a similar population. Relevant experience includes working in corrections, with problem children, and/or being a coach/advocate/mentor. Additional Details: NO cell phones allowed at work This is a lockdown facility and a 5-bed program for adolescent girls in detention.
