This space provides academic support and enrichment opportunities through high yield learning activities for youth ages 5-18, primarily from the local neighborhood. The Youth Center’s programming and activities are designed and facilitated by both the Youth Center staff, as well as other youth development partners. Activities often include arts, life skills, leadership development, and health and wellness activities. Programming takes place at the UNP -Hartland Partnership Center, which brings together faculty, students, community agencies, nonprofit organizations, and residents to co-design and implement programs with families living in the surrounding communities. Partners work together to build on one another’s strengths in an effort to facilitate programming that develops community capacity and overcomes economic, cultural, and social barriers. The Youth Center Coordinator will work with Hartland staff, partners, youth, and families to ensure a safe and enriching experience for participants. This may include supervising 1-2 youth center assistants, maintaining records, providing programming support for partners, developing and implementing curricula, and working closely with local and supporting the development of new programs and partnerships. Work schedule to be determined based on local needs, traditionally Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with some scheduled Saturdays for special events. Job Site is located off-campus at UNP Hartland Partnership Center, 1578 West 1700 South. \*The position is grant-funded for ONE year from start date, with the goal of securing additional funding for sustainability. \* **Responsibilities** Create a safe, respectful environment that facilitates learning and is encouraging and engaging, as well as culturally appropriate, for youth participants. * Track relevant data related to youth attendance, participation, interest, and impacts. * Work with Partnership Manager to assess and improve the Center. * Maintain the Youth Center facility, communicate all expectations to participants and partners, and manage behavior and conflicts as needed. * Monitor and evaluate, on an ongoing basis, programs and activities to ensure the safety of youth participants, quality of programs, and utilization of resources. * Support program partners to develop and implement impactful, culturally relevant programming and to build relationships with youth. * Work with Partnership Manager to aid in the development of current and new partnerships to strengthen the capacity of the Youth Center, including University departments and nearby public schools. * Build relationships with parents through home visits with staff/interns, provide opportunities for parent engagement, and connect families to other Hartland resources. * Foster a collaborative Youth Center team by coordinating with 1-2 Youth Center assistants as a lead member. * Mentor and work with Youth Center Volunteers * Implement programming as needed.
