Overview
The Youth & Outreach Ministries Director will serve in a critical support role to the Corps Officers and a major leadership role within the East Cleveland Corps. They will be intimately and integrally involved in the ministry of Corps, including teaching, leading and preaching the Gospel Message. The Youth & Outreach Ministries Director should remain teachable and possess a passion to further the cause of Christ.
The Youth & Outreach Ministries Director will be involved in Corps Administration, Youth Ministries, Outreach Ministries and Community Relations.
The ideal candidate should be an individual preparing for entrance to the College for Officer’s Training.
Responsibilities
• Assume total responsibility for organizing and implementing the outreach ministry of the Corps, under the direction of the Corps Officers• Under the direction of the Corps Officers, work with the Advisory Council, Corps Council and members of the church congregation in the promotion of the Mission of The Salvation Army• Serve as coordinator of Vacation Bible School• Serve as Chairperson on Corps Outreach Committee• Make connection with other churches for possible partnership opportunities• Work with Social Worker to develop connections to other agencies and clients• Responsible for the development of Youth & Young Adult Outreach Ministries, under the direction of the Corps Officers• Responsible to serve on Sunday School Planning Committee; will be required to lead or assist with specific Sunday School class• Responsible to assist in the further development of Creative Arts Ministry Programs by conducting weekly devotions with participants and extending invitations to regular worship opportunities• Responsible to assist in the development of the Community Engagement Programs while reinforcing Biblical truths and extending invitations to regular worship opportunities• Involvement with Emergency Disaster Service work, as needed• Serve as the Assistant Director for Day Camp Program• Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, cleanliness of program space, daily devotions, etc.• Assist the Corps Officers with the administration of Annual Red Kettle Campaign, as directed• Attend and contribute to all Department Head, General Staff & Ministry Team Meetings.• To assist with the oversight of all program schedule activities, special events, building security, etc.• To train or mentor youth for occupational endeavors and foster leadership whenever possible.• To assist with the organization of fundraisers assisting in funding the overall Corps Ministry.• To provide a suitable atmosphere throughout the Corps, that is in line with Army standards and encourages moderation in behavior, language, etc.• To bring to the attention of the Corps Officers any problems and or/needs of the Corps, and must keep the Corps Officers informed about activities and prospective ministry opportunities, from the membership.• To facilitate, in every way possible, the mission of The Salvation Army, at the direction of the Corps Officers.• Responsible to be involved in ALL CORPS PROGRAMS, in a leadership, participatory, support or advisory capacity to foster their development.• Responsible to assist with driving responsibilities, as necessitated by Corps Program Schedule• May be required to assist Corps Officers with general office functions, including preparing correspondence, processing income and expense, answering phones and directing calls, etc.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of related experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Ability to pass an FBI and BCII Background Check• Observe all Keep Safe guidelines.• Must uphold Biblical standards in personal and professional life, including fiscal support of the Corps Ministry• Creative program ability• Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive a 12-passenger van/minibus.• A uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing, with a willingness to soldier at the East Cleveland Corps• Must be available to work evenings and some weekends.
