GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Within parameters of the assigned dormitory, during active programming hours (6 am - 10 pm), provide supervision, safety, security, advice, counsel, correction, teaching, direction, and coordination of all services required for adjudicated male delinquents ages 12 - 21, at a juvenile correctional facility.

Worland is located within the Big Horn Basin along the Big Horn River in beautiful Northwestern Wyoming. Worland has easy access to the Big Horn Mountains to the west and the Wind River Mountains to the south, including the Wind River Canyon.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
+ As a student's clinical team member, communicate, document, and assess each student's changing individual needs, including families and the public.
+ Within the scope of facility policy, structure, and position duties, this position has the authority to make decisions regarding general program/activity adjustments and changes to student program status.
+ Provide advice, counsel, teaching, and direction to students assigned to the dorm.
+ Assess behavior and recommends interventions to the counseling and senior staff.
+ Determine and assess youth progress within the program and documents using incident reports.
+ Coordinate, supervise, and motivate students during general daily activities and ensure youth participate and meet the requirements of all program components they are responsible for completing.
+ Manage and supervise students' general daily activities.
+ Participates in youth accountability and disciplinary processes.
+ Manage crises in compliance with current certification in the crisis management system and the policies, and promptly respond to emergencies or situations as needed.
+ Safely and securely transport students on/off-campus for activities and work projects.
+ Explain agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to new residents during intake to the dormitory.
+ Supports the educational department in assuring students have the opportunity to complete assignments.
+ Supports and ensures students receive access to services that benefit their emotional stability and development.
+ Provides leadership to a unit through disciplinary actions, setting standards and guidelines, and ensuring academic support is provided and all medical issues are attended to.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with an Associate's Degree
Preference may be given to applicants with one year of work experience in youth services.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Knowledge of facility policy/procedures
+ Knowledge of safety/security procedures
+ Knowledge of Right Response Principles
+ Knowledge of non-physical and physical intervention skills during crises
+ Skills in written, verbal, and non-verbal communication
+ Knowledge and skills in preparing and teaching group material
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Social Services)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Specialist
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Specialist
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Afternoon/Evening shift work (Wed-Sat or Sun-Wed) that can change based on coverage needs.
+ Must remain awake and alert during shift.
