OVERVIEW:
The Youth Services Worker reports directly to the Shelter Director and collaborates closely with Case Managers. This role involves organizing and facilitating fun, healthy, and educational activities for the children of program participants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, supervise, and oversee children’s activities Set and clean up after activities Develop and facilitate monthly family night Evaluate children’s program activities Promote opportunities for children and families to participate in various activities and Salvation Army programs Keep all children's services bulletins up to date Report daily activities in shift notes Distribute snacks Create a monthly plan of activities with the Corps Officer Ensure safety in the children’s service area and report issues to the maintenance department Maintain cleanliness and organization of children's services areas Maintain equipment and supply inventory Keep all games and supplies in good condition Fulfill statistics reporting Attend staff meetings Other related duties as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required) First Aid and CPR certification (within first fourteen days of employment – company provided) Tuberculosis clearance (within first seven days of employment – company provided) Experience working with children and/or families (preferred) Experience with Microsoft programsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Integrity in handling sensitive information in a confidential manner Ability to multi-task Great communication skills Ability to work with a diverse populationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
