GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Youth Worker will serve in a critical support role to the Corps Officers and in a leadership role.They will be involved in the youth ministry at the Corps, including teaching, leading and preaching the Gospel message; providing Spiritual direction and care of congregation members and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Corps Officer with the development, planning and implementation of various programs, including but not limited to:Social and evangelistic ministry programs;Corps summer youth ministries, including the recruitment for camps and Bible school programs;Music programs with the specific responsibilities of helping bridge kids into Sunday Worship.
Assist the Corps Officer in providing leadership at events including the promotion, registration and transportation of events/activities. Transportation could include driving to pick up donations, program participants, etc.
Assist with various worship, praise, prayer, and evangelism services such as teaching Sunday School classes, all other youth programs and outreach programs.
Assist as needed for general, daily Corps support needs and performs special projects as assigned by the Corps Officers.
Communicates with various individuals including Corps Officers, staff, clients, Advisory Board members, volunteers, donors, community leaders, etc.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in developing new church programs in alignment with the church’s mission and vision.Collaborate with ministry leaders to design program curricula and schedules.
Ensure that all programs are inclusive, accessible, and meet the needs of diverse congregants.
Coordinate and oversee programs for children and youth, including Sunday school, youth groups, and vacation Bible school.
Manage registration processes, attendance tracking, and communication with parents.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and teachers for children’s programs.
Support adult education programs such as Bible studies, discipleship classes, and small groups.
Maintain schedules, prepare materials, and facilitate communication between group leaders and participants.
Assist in organizing special church programs and events such as holiday celebrations, retreats, and mission trips.
Assist event planning details, including registration, transportation, accommodation, and activities.
Ensure all safety and compliance protocols are followed during special events.
Maintain and organize resources and materials needed for various programs.
Order and distribute educational materials, supplies, and equipment for program activities.
Ensure all program resources are used efficiently and stored properly
Qualifications
SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
Proficiency in maintaining detailed records, calendars, and schedules.
Skill in organizing events, meetings, and programs.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Proficiency in creating clear and engaging content for bulletins, newsletters, and social media.
Ability to effectively liaise between ministry staff, volunteers, congregants, and external partners.
Experience in planning, organizing, and executing events and programs.
Ability to handle logistics, including venue booking, catering arrangements, and volunteer coordination.
Skill in managing event timelines and ensuring all details are covered.
Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues that arise during events and programs.
Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and handle unexpected challenges.
Creative thinking to develop and improve church programs and activities.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must uphold biblical standards in personal and professional life.
Must conduct oneself in a manner which reflects credit on The Salvation Army, its leadership, and on the Lord Jesus.
Must have an understanding and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification is a plus.
