Youth Worker - BGCGM

Job Summary: 

Responsible for working with assigned adult staff to coordinate program and services for members. 


Responsibilities: 

Assist in providing quality program activities and experiences that promote a sense of purpose and individual empowerment for members to practice and develop leadership skills, make meaningful choices during activities, support members to develop skills in decision making, planning and goal setting skills.Understands and follows the BGCGM Member Care Manual policies and procedures to include but not limited to conduct of member policies, supervision of members policies, employee to member policies, member safety polices, child abuse and neglect policies, member health policies, transportation and field trips policies, the club safety/contingency plan, and the procedures for reporting incidents/accidents during program hours.Demonstrate commitment to one’s own learning, skill building and professionalism on the job by following BGCGM code of conduct and employee handbook, supporting colleagues, sharing duties, and working collaboratively, and active participation in meetings.Seek and attend professional development workshops, trainings and interactions with other professionals and apply new learning to work practices.Works cooperatively with all staff to assist with quality activities and programs are promoted and supervised by staff, for members and/or customers.Assists staff with implementation and participation in programs, projects/fieldtrips, and special events within Core Program area, or company daily tasks.Assists staff in supervising the care of equipment, supplies and materials in assigned program area/company.Must participate in required training by the Club, County, State, and/or funders.

 

Education Requirements: 

Must be a current high school student.Introduction to the Childcare Profession CertificationSchool-Age 10-hour Assistant Childcare Worker CertificationRed Cross Basic Lifesaving CertificationMandated Reporter


Experience Requirements: 

Must be at least 16 years old.Must be a Boys & Girls Club Member enrolled into Brighter Futures.Must participate in mandatory education and career development programming.


Skills:  

Enjoy working with youth/adults.Cheerful, enthusiastic, responsible, courteous customer service and self-motivated.Must be able to perform all tasks in an efficient manner.
