We are currently seeking a talented and motivated **z/OS / Java Developer** for a Full-Time remote position. **Overview:** We are seeking a talented and experienced z/OS / Java Developer to support and modernize our client’s legacy mainframe systems. This role involves integrating mainframe applications with Java-based solutions to reduce the mainframe footprint and align systems with modern technology stacks. The candidate will support critical financial systems, including Official Mail Accounting System (OMAS), Uniform Allowance Program, Frank Mail Reporting System (FMRS), and Eagan Accounts Payable System (EAPS), while collaborating on migration and modernization initiatives. **Responsibilities:** + Develop, maintain, and support mainframe systems using IBM z/OS, JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ. + Implement Java-mainframe interoperability using JZOS and IBM JavaClassGenerator. + Assist in migrating mainframe systems to modern tech stacks. + Utilize REXX and SAS scripting for data manipulation and process automation. + Collaborate with Java developers to integrate mainframe components with distributed applications. + Ensure compliance with mainframe security protocols, including RACF. **Required Experience:** + Minimum of 5 years in mainframe development, including IBM z/OS, JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ. + Basic experience with Java, particularly for mainframe interfacing (familiarity with JZOS is required). + Experience with IBM JavaClassGenerator to enable Java-mainframe integration. + Proficiency in REXX and SAS scripting for data automation and manipulation. + Experience in mainframe migration projects or modernization initiatives. **Required Technical Skills:** + Proficiency in JCL, COBOL, VSAM, MQ, and CICS. + Strong understanding of Java for integration and migration tasks. + Experience with JZOS and IBM JavaClassGenerator. + Skilled in REXX and SAS scripting on mainframe systems. + Knowledge of best practices in mainframe migration planning, including risk and resource management. **Preferred Technical Skills:** + Experience with DevOps practices on mainframes (e.g., Jenkins, Git). + Familiarity with MQ and Apache Kafka integration. + Experience in performance tuning of mainframe systems and Java applications. **Soft Skills:** + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Effective communication skills for collaboration and migration planning. + Ability to work independently and in a team environment with attention to detail and quality. **Does this opportunity sound like a fit for you?
