Catalent’s Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery, Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms, from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacture.  The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. Our talented team has over 25 years of experience providing analytical services for stand-alone and integrated biologics projects.

Catalent Pharma Solutions in Kansas City, MO is hiring a Zone Operations Manager. Zone Operations Manager purpose is to produce products of the right quality and cost on time, every time, using correct cGMP standards. The Operations Zone Manager must be able to successfully develop interdepartmental relationships, while in turn, improving performance.

This is a full-time position: Onsite. Monday – Friday, 1st Shift 6:00am-2:30pm

The Role  

Assume the responsibility and authority for managing Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technicians within their assigned zone to ensure effective deployment.  Duties included are selection, performance evaluation and counseling, routine discipline, and conflict resolution

Liaise positively with Supply Chain associates, Maintenance and Quality Assurance to establish efficient schedules and quality products especially smoothly processing the flow of material and paperwork.  Interface with Materials Management and other warehouse staff as related to raw material inventory control issues

Oversee daily performance against established standards and schedules.  Resolve workflow and processing technical issues.  Make personnel decisions, as required, in the areas of staffing needs, wage recommendations, performance reviews, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for production schedule.  Maintain compliance within the Manufacturing department with all cGMP and safety regulations.  Manage adherence to shift schedules of operations staff, assisting in operational activities to overcome obstacles as needed and ensuring appropriate attention to detail and quality occurs during operations

Ensure that the facility is kept “tour ready” at all times and people/material/flow/cleaning and zone concepts are maintained at all times

Execute training for Technicians on manufacturing and cleaning standard operating procedures and any other applicable regulations.  Oversee personnel allocation to ensure projects are completed within established timelines.  Ensure batch records are complete and accurate first time

Provide upper management and critical stakeholders with updates for project timelines to planning

Trouble shoot any processing, equipment or utilities problems.  Work with the Human Resources and training staff to encourage a highly motivated and skilled work force

Define necessary Corrective/Preventive Action measures in response to internal, regulatory and customer audit requirements as well as deviation investigation

Meet commitments on time.  Identify process improvements and drive change via change control. Support 24/7 operations if necessary

The Candidate 

Required a High School Diploma with 5+years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing facility  and 3+ years  of prior leadership or relevant management experience

Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred

Must have a thorough knowledge of the equipment and processes used in the facility and within the pharmaceutical industry.  Must have a thorough knowledge of cGMP, FDA, MHRA, EU, and DEA guidelines and how to apply them effectively

Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience

Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer required

Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
